So..A roundabout Conversation!

Drug Calculations are on the Revision list:

As most people know, I cannot do Maths well AT ALL! In fact it is my weakness. Urgh..
Poor Shane spent longer then necessary trying to teach me the easier way. Book says one thing. Shane says another..Ididn't know who to believe so I gave up. Damn it all. Anyway..

P.i.X.i.e: Is hiding in her purpleness says (21:38):
5. A patient is prescribed a stat dose of Atropine 600 micrograms.

The pharmacy supplies ampoules containing 1 mg/5ml.

How much do you give?

Need help
MR X says (21:41):
3ml
because there is 200ml in every ml
so 2 * 3 = the 600
i mean 200mc in every ml
P.i.X.i.e: Is hiding in her purpleness says (21:42):

1000 mcg to every mg
What..?
Explain more please
P.i.X.i.e: Is hiding in her purpleness says (21:43):
Need help
Step by step
Idoit proof
What is happening tomorrow..?
MR X says (21:43):
no
stop
i'll explain
1mg in every 5 ml
1mg = 1000 mc
MR X says (21:44):
if we divide 1000 by 5 you get 200
P.i.X.i.e: Is hiding in her purpleness says (21:44):
yessss
MR X says (21:44):
so for every 200 we add
so 200 + 200 + 200 = 600
mc
P.i.X.i.e: Is hiding in her purpleness says (21:44):
Why divide 1000 by 5
Is it not
MR X says (21:45):
its the most basic
if you do it shorter you can work it out for example
10/5
P.i.X.i.e: Is hiding in her purpleness says (21:45):
What is needed/ what it comes in times by the liquid (mls)
MR X says (21:45):
give you half
so its even
P.i.X.i.e: Is hiding in her purpleness says (21:45):
Noo
Need the formula
So I know for other times
MR X says (21:46):
okay you need 600mg
well you said it
P.i.X.i.e: Is hiding in her purpleness says (21:46):
yesss
MR X says (21:46):
what you need
P.i.X.i.e: Is hiding in her purpleness says (21:46):
So
MR X says (21:46):
divided by what you got
timed by what you have
P.i.X.i.e: Is hiding in her purpleness says (21:46):
600 divided by 1000 x5
Gives a different answer
P.i.X.i.e: Is hiding in her purpleness says (21:47):
Nope
MR X says (21:47):
no
P.i.X.i.e: Is hiding in her purpleness says (21:47):
Sorry
Trying to do it manually
MR X says (21:47):
look sometimes that formula is shit
P.i.X.i.e: Is hiding in her purpleness says (21:47):
And getting mixed up
Don't confuse mee
MR X says (21:47):
most of the time its common sense
MR X says (21:48):
lol
okay
have a break your working too hard on it
P.i.X.i.e: Is hiding in her purpleness says (21:48):
Noo
. just. don't. get.it
I cannot break it down
P.i.X.i.e: Is hiding in her purpleness says (21:49):
Like you did
MR X says (21:49):
what dont you get?
okay
LOOK
1mg = 1000mc basic
for this equation 1mg is 5ml
MR X says (21:50):
that's key
you need 600 mc
now if you simplify it you can have it in tens
for example
10 the total and you need six
P.i.X.i.e: Is hiding in her purpleness says (21:51):
yesss
MR X says (21:51):
so if you count how many times you can divide into 6 you get 3 times
P.i.X.i.e: Is hiding in her purpleness says (21:51):
But then 6 into 10 turns it into decimals
MR X says (21:51):
because you add by 2
P.i.X.i.e: Is hiding in her purpleness says (21:51):

MR X says (21:51):
no you thinking too far ahead
its basic
P.i.X.i.e: Is hiding in her purpleness says (21:52):
NOPE
MR X says (21:52):
you need 3
P.i.X.i.e: Is hiding in her purpleness says (21:52):
Sigh
MR X says (21:52):
out of five
P.i.X.i.e: Is hiding in her purpleness says (21:52):
need 600, got 1000
MR X says (21:52):
so imagine every one ml consists of 200mc
you're doing it wrong
P.i.X.i.e: Is hiding in her purpleness says (21:52):
600 into 1000..60 into 100 6 into 10
MR X says (21:52):
one more time
MR X says (21:53):
1000mc in every mg
1mg = 5ml
you need 600mc
P.i.X.i.e: Is hiding in her purpleness says (21:53):
6 divided into 10 equals o.6
MR X says (21:53):
1000 divided by 5
not 600
= 200
200 = 1ml
P.i.X.i.e: Is hiding in her purpleness says (21:54):
o.6 x3 equals
BUT WHY DIVIDE THE 1000 BY 5ML IN THE FIRST PLACE!
MR X says (21:54):
1000 DIVIDED BY 5 NOT 600
EQUALS 200
P.i.X.i.e: Is hiding in her purpleness says (21:54):
Thats what I want to know
MR X says (21:54):
you dont!
you had the wrong way round
P.i.X.i.e: Is hiding in her purpleness says (21:55):
WHY ARE YOU DIVIDING THE 1000 BY 5
MR X says (21:55):
i mean you do!
P.i.X.i.e: Is hiding in her purpleness says (21:55):
O.o
MR X says (21:55):
because thats how you do it
P.i.X.i.e: Is hiding in her purpleness says (21:55):
Noo
MR X says (21:55):
because that's how you get the 1mg!
i mean 1ml
P.i.X.i.e: Is hiding in her purpleness says (21:56):
The book says it is What is needed/ what it comes in times by the liquid (mls)

Not
MR X says (21:56):
well it's wrong
you divide what there is into the current formula
MR X says (21:57):
so you divide the 1000mc into the 5 ml
P.i.X.i.e: Is hiding in her purpleness says (21:57):
But why..?
MR X says (21:58):
because some of the book out there are shit, because some of the nurses who made those books are bad at math and because it's the only way you can do it
try it
tell me it doesnt get 200
because it does
and then that 200mc is you basic 1ml
so how many 1ml's will you need for 600???
THREE!!!!
and that's maths
